Add another accolade to the list of accomplishments of one Conor McGregor.
In a recent edition, Rolling Stone included new UFC featherweight champion to their top 2015 sex symbols list, currently ranking him at #8, declaring him the biggest star in MMA [yes, past Ronda Rousey herself] and noting his various bizarre adventures in his run to the championship:
“And while his accomplishments inside the Octagon are impressive, his flashy excesses outside of it make him legendary. Dropping half-a-million dollars on a pair of cars? Check. Debating the merits of purchasing a chimp as a mascot? Yep. Sparring with – the summarily talking shit about – Game of Thrones’ massive Mountain? You know it.”

Contributor James Montgomery put a finer point on things in the end:
“In 2016, he says he’s going to move up a weight class in the hopes of claiming another belt, meaning that if you’re sick of him now, you’re shit outta luck; King Conor’s reign is just beginning.“
MMA fighters gaining mainstream popularity isn’t anything new, but this is certainly interesting ground. Only a matter of time before we see McGregor featured prominently elsewhere in prominent publications, and it’s looking like it won’t stop anytime soon.
