Electronic Arts released a new trailer earlier today with gameplay footage featuring flashy new moves, new Reebok uniforms and stunning visuals with fluid animations.
One of the more pleasant surprises for longtime MMA fans is the inclusion of two newcomers to the series, Bas Ruttenand Kazushi Sakuraba, both available as pre-order exclusives as well as one as of yet unnanounced “mystery” fighter to be announced later. The trailer also features women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm taking on former champion Ronda Rousey in a partial recreation of their fight as well as a tease of what is expected to be their eventual next bout. Also interesting is the inclusion of new featherweight champion Conor McGregor taking on former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.
Series creative director Brian Hayes had the following to say in a statement via UFC.com:
“Whether fans want to play upcoming cards, recreate the outcome of recent fights, or go back to fight with MMA legends, we’ll help them do that in the most authentic and exciting way ever in an MMA simulation.”
“Our first two pre-order fighters, Bas Rutten and Kazushi Sakuraba are perfect additions to what is already the biggest roster ever for an official UFC game. Adding them is huge, and fans are going to go nuts when we reveal who the mystery fighter is. I can’t wait.”
As a reminder, the previous game in the series debut also had a mystery fighter, which was later revealed to be none other than Bruce Lee.
The new game is scheduled to be released worldwide on March 17th, with a North American release on March 15th. The game releases for Playstation 4 and XBox One platforms only.
