Despite recent concerns regarding the overall health of the organization, Titan FC is continuing their expansion in a surprising direction. The Florida-based organization has recently announced that they would be implementing weight classes for women to compete in the promotion at both strawweight and flyweight. They have also announced the signing of longtime veteran Carina Damm to start off their divisions.
One of the most seasoned active competitors in WMMA, Aguilar has fought around the world in almost every major organization. Her time in Bodog, HOOKnSHOOT, Bellator and World Series of Fighting, along with her current UFC run appear to be a factor, providing her with insight into how women’s divisions work and what kind of talent and matchups the organization is looking to showcase.
Much like Strikeforce and UFC veteran Julie Kedzie who is now a matchmaker for Invicta FC (as well as longtime veteran Kaitlin Young who shares matchmaking duties with her), Aguilar will be tasked with turning her years of competitive experience into administrative ability. The curious thing here is that she would be working for another organization while actively competing in the UFC.
Damm is best remembered for her stint in the Strikeforce organization, and is the older sister of former UFC talent and TUF contestant Rodrigo Damm. Her professional record currently stands at 22-10 and she is on a two-fight losing skid against Brazilian regional talent Elaine Albuquerque and Marceia Allen. Her last fight was in April of last year. She holds wins against Aline Serio, Kalindra Faria, Sofia Bagherdai, Japanese standout Miku Matsumoto, former Invicta title challenger Vanessa Porto and in a strange twist of events that’s somewhat expected from the MMA ecosystem, Jessica Aguilar herself. She has been fighting since 2004.
No other Titan FC signings have been announced as of yet, and no upcoming bouts have been made for Aguilar in the UFC.
