Despite being out of the sport since last November, and amid rumors swirling about a possible fight with current champion Amanda Nunes (or perhaps another option), Ronda Rousey has spent her time engaging in more relaxed activities. During her downtime from fighting, she recently participated in the upcoming documentary The Hurt Business, which focuses on the struggles and hardship of being an MMA fighter.
In advance of the film’s release in theaters this Thursday, a new trailer has been released in which the former women’s bantamweight champion opens up on her initial motivation to dive into the sport prior to starting her amateur career in 2010.

“My mom says all the time you can’t un-have a thought. I tried to push it out of my mind, but I watched them fight and watched how much respect and interest it got from everyone, and I was envious in a way,” she admits. “I knew that I could beat those girls, but no one in the room had any reason to believe me.”
“I started being frustrated by the fact that I knew I was the best woman fighter in the world and no one believed me.”
The Hurt Business opens in theaters in various cities nationwide this Thursday only, and covers the history of the sport as well as the many ordeals of fighters coming up. It also features some of those that have found fame and glory such as Josh Barnett, Rashad Evans, Bas Rutten, Chuck Liddell, Don Frye, Tito Ortiz, Donald Cerrone, Ken Shamrock, Urijah Faber, Rorion Gracie and current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. The film is also narrated by Kevin Costner.
